The national Salpa Centre was established in Miehikkälä in July 7^th, 2005.

The Salpa Centre consists of:

·         Salpa Line Museum in Miehikkälä

·         Virolahti Bunker Museum

·         Engineer Museum

·         Salpa Line Tradition Association (Salpalinjan perinneyhdistys ry)

The Salpa Centre establishes versatile cooperation in order to develop information exchange and tourism relating to its target area. It aims at creating an international centre of fortification history in Miehikkälä, combining local museums, surrounding nature and tourism.

The Salpa Centre distributes information on fortification history of the Salpa Line and pursues sustainable development of military history related tourism. In addition to the remarkable fortification monument, the Salpa Centre also exhibits the whole history of the branch of military engineering all the way to the present day.
